By acknowledging these terms and conditions, the downloader of CensusTools spreadsheets agrees to the following:
Use
CensusTools spreadsheets may be freely copied for personal use. Users are encouraged to help spread the word about CensusTools and permission is granted to publicize the website and/or spreadsheets via word of mouth, e-mail, newsletters, genealogical clubs, societies, libraries etc.
Alterations
Users are encouraged to customize CensusTools spreadsheets as desired to suit their specific needs. CensusTools spreadsheets which have been modified in format may not be redistributed without permission of Gary Minder, creator of CensusTools.com.
Redistribution
Users are encouraged to share CensusTools spreadsheets with family and friends provided there have been NO modifications to the format of any worksheet and the "How to Use This Spreadsheet" worksheet is included intact. CensusTools spreadsheets may not be sold.
Publication
Users may freely publish populated worksheets in their published genealogies in book form if CensusTools.com is credited as the source of the spreadsheets. Populated worksheets may be included in genealogies published in electronic form if a link is provided to censustools.com.
Professional Use
Professional genealogists are encouraged to use CensusTools spreadsheets in their reports to clients, and of course should be expected to be compensated for the time required to complete a worksheet. No fee may be charged however for the spreadsheets themselves.
Donations
Donations to help support CensusTools are gratefully accepted. The spreadsheets are distributed as freeware however, and are fully functional with no time or functionality restrictions regardless of whether a donation is made.
Security
Every precaution is taken to ensure all spreadsheet files are free of malicious code. The CensusTools development computer is maintained with the latest anti-virus software, updated daily. Individual users however are responsible for their own systems and should never download a file without running their own virus checks.
Privacy
By requesting one or more files, a user opts into the CensusTools e-mail database and may receive periodic e-mail announcements and/or newsletters. Any such e-mail will contain easy to follow instructions to allow the recipient to opt out of CensusTools e-mail list. CensusTools will never share or sell the e-mail database without prior permission.
